Replacement carbon filters for drinking water systems come in three basic types: pleated carbon filters which work to remove sediment and remove the odder and taste of chlorine; GAC filters that are used strictly to improve taste and oder; or carbon block filters to remove chlorine oder, improve taste, remove cysts and VOC's and in special carbon block filters remove lead and other harmful contaminants.
